What are we doing?

The Scott Frame and Finish Foundation is a nonprofit (501c3) organization dedicated to supporting individuals pursuing careers in the construction industry. Our mission is to:
  1. Work with trade schools to provide scholarships covering a portion, (up to 100%, depending on financial need), of tuition for carpentry and drywall finishing certificates or degrees.
  2. Support career readiness by granting a stipend for tools up to $500 upon completion of the program and after obtaining an offer of employment or apprenticeship.
Honoring a Legacy of Craftsmanship
My dad, Bob Scott, was a drywall finisher in Western Kentucky for 50 years. Even after retiring at age 70, he continued taking on small jobs because people still sought his expertise. His commitment to quality was unmatched.

When he passed away in January, hundreds of people came to pay their respects—a remarkable turnout, especially considering Bardwell, KY, where he lived, has a population of just 690. As each person shook my hand, they shared stories about his integrity, fairness, and the pride he took in his work. He left a lasting impression, not just through his craftsmanship but through his character.

His legacy opened my eyes to something important: skilled drywall finishers are becoming harder to find. The demand for quality craftsmanship remains, but the supply of dedicated tradespeople is dwindling.

That’s why this foundation was created—to provide opportunities for hardworking individuals to learn the trades of carpentry and drywall, master their craft, and uphold the same high standards my dad did. With the right training, we can develop pride in workmanship—one skilled craftsperson at a time.

Why are we doing it?

Our mission is to remove financial barriers to trade school and help with startup costs so students can focus on mastering the skills that lead to quality craftsmanship. We’re not concerned with your past—we’re invested in your future. That’s why our scholarship application doesn’t ask for your GPA. Instead, we include something more important: the “Pride in Craftsmanship Pledge.”

We’re looking for individuals with a strong work ethic and a desire to take pride in their workmanship.
My dad was a stickler for the details. When my brothers and I worked with him, he’d often inspect our work only to tell us to do it again, the right way. Even into retirement, people kept calling him for jobs—not because he was the fastest or the cheapest, but because his work spoke for itself. He built a successful business on integrity and quality.

The Scott Frame and Finish Foundation is proud to support people who share those same values.

The Pride in Craftsmanship Pledge

I commit to delivering high-quality carpentry and drywall work. I will treat every project as if it were my own home, taking pride in the details and always acting in the best interest of the client—even when it requires extra time and effort. I will not take shortcuts.

I take the educational opportunity of this program seriously. I will actively seek to learn and grow, knowing that mastering my craft is my responsibility and the key to long-term success.

I will show up on time, prepared, and ready to work—no excuses.

My craftsmanship and my work ethic will distinguish me from others in the field. I will build a reputation rooted in quality, integrity, and professionalism.
